How did your valentine go? 

 I was really looking forward to enjoying my valentine and then it got ruined by my boyfriend. I have been ranting in his ears how bad I really wanted to own a totes bag from Toke Makinwa and I really love her collections. Anytime I go to her page, I can almost feel the amazingness of her collections and I’m also her big fan. I love her perfumes too and I had saved up to get one of her perfumes- dive. They have an amazing scent too and one that’s so unusual. I know many might seem like it's just a totes bag but it isn’t just one for me, I really wanted it.

What did your boyfriend get you for Valentine's Day ?

He really tried, he credited my account with a substantial amount of money and we also went out for a couples dinner and did massage therapy together. Don’t get me wrong, I love that he did all that but it wasn’t intentional or thoughtful to me. I wanted him to pay attention to what I really wanted and put some thought process into it. I just wanted him to listen to me. Even with all the valentine treatment I got, I’m quite sure it’s more expensive than the totes bag itself and it was more as if he did it for us, rather than for me. I want to be given gifts that are so grounded in what I’ll like and want, to me it means that thoughts of me happen so frequently in your brain. I have a problem with the gift that is beneficial to the other party because what then is the purpose of gifting. I didn’t enjoy my valentine because I gave as many hints as I could and nothing was done. 

What did you get your boyfriend for valentine? 

I got him a washing machine and an iron because he was always taking his clothes to dry cleaners. He wasn’t even as appreciative of the gift as I envisaged but whatever. We learn to love each other through our differences and grow in love and commitment together.
